  • Bahrain Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018)


1. Definitions

  • “User,” “Service Seeker,” “Service Provider”: individuals engaging with the App for any purpose.

  • “Personal Information”: data that identifies or can be linked to an identifiable individual (e.g. name, email, phone number, work history).


2. Our Commitment

Your privacy is a top priority. We implement safeguards to prevent unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of your data and operate in line with applicable data protection laws.


3. Information We Collect

We collect personal information when you interact with the App, including:

  • Registration Data: details needed to create and manage accounts (e.g. name, email, age, work experience).

  • Interaction Data: activity within the App, such as messages and job applications.

  • Job Listings/Applicant Data: Service Provider profiles (work history, experience) visible to Service Seekers, and basic Service Seeker details visible for job matching.

  • Third-Party Services: if you use external services (e.g. visa assistance via Maids.cc), relevant data may be shared.


4. How We Use Your Information

We process data to:

  • Provide and improve our services.

  • Enable communication between families and caregivers.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

  • Detect fraud and enhance security.

  • Deliver advertising through partners such as Google AdMob (both personalized and non-personalized).

Legal Basis for Processing: Your consent, contractual necessity, compliance with legal obligations, or our legitimate interests.


5. Data Protection and Security

We use encryption (AES-256), access controls, and other measures to safeguard data in transit and at rest.

In the event of a data breach, we will notify the relevant data protection authority (e.g., UAE Data Office or Bahrain PDPA) and affected users within the timeframe required by law.


6. Sharing Your Information

  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.

  • We may share data with trusted third parties when necessary to provide services (e.g., visa processing).

  • When transferring data internationally (e.g., between Bahrain and the UAE where Yaya is headquartered), we implement safeguards such as contractual clauses or equivalent protections.

  • We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party providers you engage with via Yaya.


7. Data Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for business and legal purposes. Retention periods may vary depending on local legal requirements in each country where we operate.


8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal information.

  • Request corrections or updates.

  • Request deletion (subject to legal requirements).

  • Object to processing or withdraw consent.

  • Request portability of your data.

We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.


9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for individuals under 18 without parental consent. If we learn that someone under 18 has registered without consent, we will delete the account and data.


10. Sensitive Data

We do not request or intentionally process sensitive data (e.g., health, religious beliefs). Users should avoid submitting such data through the App.


11. Advertising & Analytics

We use Google AdMob and similar services to deliver ads. These partners may collect:

  • Device and app usage data

  • General location information

  • Advertising identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID, Apple IDFA)

Users can manage ad preferences in device settings:

  • Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization

  • iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking

12. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in the UAE, Bahrain, or other countries where we or our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure transfers comply with applicable legal requirements.


13. Regional Differences

UAE Users

  • Yaya complies with Federal Decree-Law No. 45/2021.

  • Data breaches will be reported to the UAE Data Office where legally required.

  • Minimum retention periods may apply under UAE law.

Bahrain Users

  • Yaya complies with Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018).

  • Data breaches will be reported to the Bahrain PDPA where legally required.

  • Retention periods follow Bahraini requirements.


14. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be communicated via email, in-app notification, or on our website. Continued use of the App means you accept the updated policy.
