Meet Mazvita Makono

Mazvita Makono has developed her childcare expertise through three years of combined nanny and educational support experience. From January 2024 to December 2024, she worked as a live-in nanny for a private family in Dubai, where she provided full-time care and supervision for a child both at home and during trips. Her responsibilities included preparing the child and managing feeding routines for nursery in the mornings, engaging children in outdoor activities and building crafts, and assisting with homework and school projects. She prepared healthy meals and snacks, maintained household laundry, and ensured excellent hygiene throughout the home while following parenting preferences and household rules with a constant focus on child safety and well-being. Prior to her nanny role, Mazvita worked as a nursery teacher assistant at Harvest Academy in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa from January 2022 to December 2023. In this position, she assisted classroom teachers by monitoring children and providing necessary help and safety during break times, including feeding assistance for children who needed support. Her duties extended to ensuring proper seating arrangements for school transport, monitoring behavior and maintaining discipline, and helping younger or special needs children safely board and exit buses at their residences. She conducted headcounts and attendance checks, communicated with parents and school staff about injuries, behavior issues, sickness, or lost items, and maintained daily logs of incidents or unusual behavior. She describes herself as having excellent communication skills, being patient, responsible, and a team player with attention to detail and quick decision-making abilities in emergencies. This Zimbabwean national speaks English and Shona and holds Red Cross Nurse Aide certification.
