Yaya AI: Natural-Language Caregiver Search for Dubai & the UAE

By Rui Gomes Pinto, Founder & CEO, Yaya Middle East
Last month, Yaya Middle East launched Yaya AI: AI-powered caregiver matching for families in Dubai and across the UAE and Bahrain, plus an in-app assistant that gives instant answers about hiring help at home. Yaya AI combines natural language search with structured filtering and AI ranking to surface verified nannies and maids who match each family's specific needs. Families can also ask questions about visas, salaries, contracts, gratuity and UAE domestic worker law and get answers in English or Arabic, around the clock.
This post covers what Yaya AI does, how it works, and the year of behind-the-scenes work that led up to the launch.
What Yaya AI does for families
Yaya AI introduces two capabilities inside the existing Yaya app on the App Store and Google Play. They sit alongside the tools families already use, not as a replacement.
Yaya AI Search
Instead of filtering by checkbox, families describe what they want. "Looking for a live-out Filipina nanny in Dubai Marina with newborn experience" returns a ranked shortlist of caregivers whose profiles, experience and availability match. Each candidate comes with a plain-language explanation of why she is a good fit. Families can refine the search, save matches, or move straight into the existing CareFinder hiring flow.
Ask Yaya AI
Hiring a nanny in Dubai, or anywhere else in the UAE, comes with a long tail of practical questions. What does a sponsorship transfer involve? How is gratuity calculated under the domestic worker decree? What is a fair salary for a live-in nanny in Dubai with five years of experience? Ask Yaya AI answers these directly, grounded in Yaya's structured knowledge base and informed by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation framework for domestic workers. No search results page. No waiting for a human to reply on a Sunday evening.
What a Yaya AI search actually looks like
Here is a concrete example. A working mother in Khalifa City types into Yaya AI Search:
"I need a part-time Filipina nanny who can pick up two kids from school, drive, and help with light cooking. Mornings free, afternoons busy."
Yaya AI breaks that prompt into structured filters: location Khalifa City, nationality Filipino, schedule part-time afternoons, skills driving and cooking. SQL handles the hard constraints. Embeddings rank the narrative fit. The model then writes a one-line explanation on each candidate card:
"Maricel has 4 years in Abu Dhabi, holds a UAE driving licence, and her last family praised her cooking. Available afternoons from next week."
What used to be twenty minutes of scrolling and filtering becomes a shortlist of three to five AI caregiver recommendations in seconds, with the reasoning visible. A family in Dubai Marina searching for a live-out newborn specialist gets a different shortlist from a family in Khalifa City needing afternoon school pickups. The structured filters change. The ranking logic adapts. The explanations are tailored to what the family actually asked for.
Open the Yaya app and try a search. Download it from the App Store or Google Play if you do not have it yet.
Why traditional caregiver search does not work well
Families struggle to describe what they really want, and traditional filters do not capture nuance.
Some requirements are hard constraints. Live-out in Dubai Marina. Own visa. Can drive. Others are softer signals. Good with newborns. Calm under pressure. Warm and professional. A checkbox interface handles the first category and ignores the second. A simple keyword search does the opposite. Neither is good enough when you are choosing the person who will spend their days with your children.
The other problem with traditional directories is staleness. A profile that looked good six months ago might belong to someone who left the country. Yaya AI Search factors profile freshness and recent activity into ranking, so a nanny who logged in this morning ranks ahead of one who has not opened the app in three weeks. Profiles that become inactive are deprioritised or removed from recommendations, helping families avoid stale listings that are common on classifieds and social media groups.
The engineering behind Yaya AI
We tested several approaches before settling on a hybrid system. Pure filters miss nuance. Pure AI extraction is slow and rankings drift between identical queries. Pure vector embeddings break on binary constraints ("Filipino" is either true or false, not 87% true). So we combined all three, with each layer doing what it is best at. The result is AI nanny matching that handles both the hard constraints families specify and the softer signals they care about.
Why Yaya AI is different from a general AI chatbot
General-purpose AI tools can generate advice, but they do not know which caregivers are currently active, available, recently reviewed by moderators or legally employable in the UAE. Yaya AI combines large language models with structured marketplace data, profile freshness signals and human-reviewed caregiver profiles to generate relevant matches grounded in the realities of hiring help at home in Dubai and the wider UAE. This is why we describe Yaya AI as AI caregiver matching purpose-built for the Dubai and UAE family market, not just a chatbot with a nanny prompt.
A year of operational AI before this launch
Yaya AI did not appear out of nowhere. We started working with AI on the platform over a year ago, beginning with something unglamorous: standardising caregiver profiles.
Every nanny joining Yaya uploads a CV, writes a short bio in her own words, and records a video greeting. AI takes those inputs and produces a clean, structured profile so every caregiver is genuinely comparable regardless of writing style, English level or formatting. Profile approval times dropped by roughly half. More importantly, we built a discrepancy checker on top: if a CV claims four years of experience but the bio and video both suggest two, the system flags it for a moderator to review.
The principle behind every one of these features is the same. AI helps our team do their work faster and more consistently. Humans stay in the loop for edge cases and trust decisions. For a marketplace where families are inviting strangers into their homes to care for their children, that is not a tradeoff we are willing to make.
Trust still comes from the humans behind the scenes
Every caregiver profile on Yaya is reviewed by a human before it goes live. That review combines automated checks, AI-assisted analysis and direct contact with each nanny by a member of our team. Yaya AI Search and Ask Yaya AI are built on top of that foundation. The AI helps families get to the right shortlist faster. The trust comes from the verification work that happens before any profile is ever surfaced.
We also built guardrails into Ask Yaya AI. It stays grounded in our knowledge base, refuses to speculate where it should not, and surfaces a support contact when a question is outside its scope. Responsible AI in a domain like ours is not a marketing claim. It is a product requirement.
What is next for Yaya AI
Today, Yaya AI works with text-first inputs: CVs, written bios and structured fields. The next phase is multimodal. We will bring the video greeting every caregiver records into the matching engine as a structured signal alongside the documents and bios. That is where AI starts to capture how a caregiver actually presents, not just what she writes.
Yaya AI is launching in beta, and that is deliberate. Internal testing tells you whether something works. Real users tell you whether it matters. Every search query, moderation decision and family interaction will sharpen the next iteration.

Frequently asked questions
What is Yaya AI?
Yaya AI is a feature inside the Yaya Middle East app that lets families search for caregivers using natural language and get instant answers to questions about hiring help at home in the UAE. It includes two capabilities: Yaya AI Search and Ask Yaya AI.
What is AI nanny search?
AI nanny search uses natural-language processing, structured filtering and AI ranking systems to help families find a nanny or maid using plain English instead of relying only on filters and keywords. Yaya AI combines large language models with structured caregiver data, activity signals and human-reviewed profiles to generate more relevant nanny and maid matches for families in the UAE.
Is Yaya AI free to use?
Yes. Yaya AI Search and Ask Yaya AI are free for everyone using the Yaya app. A paid Yaya subscription is only required to unlock contact details and hire caregivers through the platform.
How much does it cost to hire a nanny in Dubai?
Costs vary by experience, schedule and visa arrangement. As a general guide, full-time live-in nannies in Dubai typically earn between AED 2,500 and AED 5,000 per month, with experienced nannies and specialist roles like newborn care commanding higher rates. Live-out and part-time arrangements work on different rates. See our full Nanny Salary Dubai 2026 guide or ask Yaya AI inside the app for current salary expectations for your specific scenario.
How is Yaya AI different from a normal nanny search?
A traditional filter-based search forces families to translate what they want into checkboxes. Yaya AI Search accepts natural language, handles both hard constraints (visa status, location, language) and softer signals (newborn experience, temperament, cooking ability), and ranks results with a plain-language explanation of why each caregiver matches.
Are the caregivers on Yaya verified?
Yes. Every caregiver profile on Yaya is reviewed by a human before it goes live, using a combination of automated checks, AI-assisted analysis and direct contact with the caregiver. Yaya AI ranks and matches caregivers from this verified pool. For more on safety, see our guide on the safest way to hire a nanny in the UAE.
Is my data safe when using Yaya AI?
Yes. Yaya AI processes search queries and conversations using Yaya's own knowledge base and trusted AI providers. We do not sell user data, and conversations with Ask Yaya AI are not used to train external models on your personal information. See our privacy policy for full details.
Can I trust Yaya AI's answers about UAE labour law?
